Faja Care Guide
Your Faja works hard for your body. Take care of it.
A post-op Faja needs more careful maintenance because it may be worn for many hours and sits against healing skin. Always follow the instructions from your surgeon or medical team — their guidance overrides this general care guide.
Before First Use
Wash your new Faja before wearing it if the garment manufacturer's instructions allow this.
After surgery, always follow the instructions from your surgeon or medical team about when to begin wearing the Faja, how long to wear it and when it can be removed.
How Often Should It Be Washed?
For post-op use, cleanliness is especially important. Ideally, have at least 2 Fajas so you can always rotate:
Faja 1
Wear
Faja 2
Wash + Dry
A clean Faja should be used regularly — particularly when it becomes sweaty, soiled, or has contact with drainage or body fluids.
How to Wash Your Faja
- 1
Close It First
Close all hooks, zippers and Velcro before washing. This protects the fabric from snagging.
- 2
Hand Wash
Use cold or lukewarm water — maximum 30 °C. Never use a washing machine.
- 3
Mild Detergent Only
Avoid bleach, chlorine, fabric softener, harsh stain removers and strong fragrances.
- 4
Wash Gently
Do not aggressively scrub the compression fabric. Do not twist or wring the Faja.
- 5
Rinse Thoroughly
Detergent residue can irritate skin, especially after surgery. Rinse until the water runs clear.
Drying
Gently press excess water out with a clean towel. Then air dry completely. Do not wear the Faja while it is still damp.
Never
High temperatures can weaken the compression fibers and shorten the life of the Faja.
How to Make Your Preciosa Faja Last Longer
The best system: 2 Fajas → rotate → hand wash → air dry → repeat.
- 1
Keep fingernails and jewelry from pulling the fabric when putting it on.
- 2
Don't pull the Faja up by one small section — work it gradually up the body.
- 3
Close hooks from the bottom upward without overstretching.
- 4
Don't force yourself into a Faja that's too small.
- 5
Don't cut or alter the garment yourself.
- 6
Store completely clean and dry — flat or gently folded.
- 7
Don't leave a sweaty Faja sealed in a plastic bag.
- 8
Inspect hooks, seams, zippers and compression panels regularly.
When Should the Faja Be Replaced?
Compression garments don't last forever. Consider replacement when:
The fabric remains stretched and compression noticeably decreases.
Seams become damaged or hooks / zippers fail.
The garment no longer fits correctly.
Your medical team recommends a different size or compression stage after surgery.
